Feel free to NOT include samples of your artwork here, if you want to keep it safe. It is a rule of this board that art must not be shared without the permission of the artist, however that is tricky to enforce. Please describe your art style, and if you have work online then link to it. Feel free to post it here, too, but understand that I can't guarantee its safety.
If there is a piece you want to keep offline but show me, you can email it directly to me at MurderintheMail.com. Ideally you will send two emails: one attachment-free email letting me know you are about to send some art, and then one with the art. Both should have "Murder in the Mail" in the subject line. If I don't respond within two weeks, something has gone wrong.
I always look for two things in the art:
1. Does this make me want to hang it on the wall?
2. Will this work in the story?
Because of #2 there are absolutely no guarantees that the best artists will be the ones I choose. But I'm definitely looking for pictures of baby girls/toddlers with detailed backgrounds. Bonus point if they're not (just) Caucasian. It will help a LOT if you art translates easily to A4 size, because that is how it will be sent to the readers.
