Who do you think is the killer? Is it the same person or different to the person it was last week?

I still think it was Hatchi - a very sneaky idea to have everyone write their suspicions so he/she can send them off in other directions.

I'm wondering if it was the person who wasn't at the party (I have a mind blank on his name) the letter week one from Drew said he was sick. His letter this week said that he was home working on an assignment… someone is telling fibs perhaps?

We still don't know anything much about Laramie and Roshan, or about their friendship with Naomi. I'm assuming that Elan and Laramie are a couple though, since they planned to dress as Holmes and Watson.
I'm still not convinced that Penny is innocent, but I think Elan seems genuinely shocked and upset by Naomi's murder, and is trying his best to be helpful.
I had the impression from Drew's letter last week that Elan was seriously focussed on getting a fellowship, so I'm not surprised that he might ditch a costume party to get a good photograph. I don't read much into his telling his friends that he was ill and couldn't make it - I think he just told a little white lie so he wouldn't hurt Naomi's feelings.

I don't see Drew mentioning Elan was sick; it says he 'cancelled at the last minute'? Did I miss something?
We get a tiny further glimpse of Roshan, and he seems deeply disturbed, but there isn't a lot to go on. There's clearly a lot going on in Elan's head, and he does seem upset, but what you write on paper can be faked more easily than in person and he hasn't talked to most of his friends for weeks ... his letter is visually so well composed; neat margins, no crossing out etc. Looks like he thought through what he was going to say carefully before he wrote it down. And I don't fully understand his photograph - there are these yellow flecks on the rocks on the left which I'm not convinced are actually part of the rocks, and what's that dark-reddish line leaking into view at the mid-bottom?

I *assumed* that Elan had said he ws sick because Drew went on to write "We all thought "Poor Elan" at the time, and now Elan's the only one who didn't have to see how the party ended. I wish I'd contracted glandular fever or measles or small pox or anything so I could have missed the party too" but you're right - Drew didn't actually say that Elan was ill.
I'm not sure what's going on in Elan's photograph either, but to me the shape of the river looks a little like the silhouette of a girl with her hands clasped together in prayer.

I know the week two clues were ages ago, but Im only now looking at the forum and noticing that we did not receive a photo of the river, but instead looked up Matakitari and noticed that it was evidently a Maori thing not a grammatically incorrect Japanese phrase as suggested.
